We are Authors!

This semester our 3rd graders have been busy writing their own stories and poetry. Students worked in pairs and individually to express an interesting story or inspiring poetry. They also added to their writing by including some original artwork. Have a look at their final products below.

As a culminating activity, we had a Skype chat with our new friends in Ms. Anderson's class in Minnesota. They showed us a poetry skit they had made about their interpretation of the poem,"I Found a Four-Leaf Clover" by Jack Prelutsky. Have a look at our Rocketeers sharing their work below.

  1. We played 'When the Birds Sing' in our classroom here in New Zealand. We liked the accent because it sounded funny to us, in New Zealand (although I am sure that our students voices would sound a little strange to students in the USA!)We saw the gifts that you posted to Mrs Yollis and thought that was a really nice idea.

  2. Mr. Webb and friends in Room 5,

Wow, thanks for sharing our story with your class! We are thrilled that it reached as far as New Zealand! We enjoyed connecting with our Skype and blogging buddies throughout the year and thought it would be nice to send them a little something special as a token of our appreciation. We hope to connect with your class sometime in September if you'd like.

Have a great winter (we are in summer here),
